A Pair of Antique Dutch Locomotive Lanterns Marked "Utrecht"
Item Details
A rare find. A pair of antique Dutch locomotive marker lanterns, stamped at the front on a brass label to read ‘J.A.V Dijk & ZN Utrecht’. The metal lanterns have a round glass window at the front, a perforated copper finial and they retain their original handles and frames. The hinged front panel opens to allow use of a candle inside each lantern. Interestingly, the Dutch National Railway Museum was established in Utrecht in 1927 but lost most of their collection during World War II.
Condition
The lantern are very good in appearance with some of the metal being distressed from use. There are no dents and all looks to be original.
