An 1897 Signed and Hand-Colored Roycroft Book "The Book of Job"

A Roycroft book titled The Book of Job as translated from the original by Rabbi Abraham Elzas; with some Comments on the poem by Elbert Hubbard, published in 1897 by the famed Roycroft shop in East Aurora, New York as a limited edition of 350 copies. The book is hand-numbered 83 and has been signed by Elbert Hubbert. This book has 142 pages, the text body is set in Antiqua Old Style and 350 copies were printed on Whatman handmade paper and hand illuminated. The book is bound in paper over boards with a cloth spine.

Condition

The book is in splendid condition, especially considering it’s age. The cover and spine show little to no wear, the corners are crisp and the interior pages are as clean as it gets. The hand colored vignettes are clear and vibrant, there is no foxing or age toning. The book has been kept in a clean and dry, non-smoking home. The only thing to mention is the fact that some pages are uncut at the top.
