Item Details

A set of two 8×10 Walt Burton (1935- ) Playboy Club black-and-white photographic prints of a birthday scene. Burton began his photography career in the 1950s and was Cincinnati’s Playboy magazine district photographer from 1963-1966. The first Playboy Club opened in Chicago in 1960, later coming to Cincinnati in 1964. The club maintained its reputation as a place for party, cocktails, music and beautiful ‘bunnies’ until it closed its doors in 1984. The photographs are from the same series, a celebratory birthday cake scene; one photograph depicts six beautiful ‘bunnies’ surrounding an icing covered Playboy cake, one about to swipe her finger into the icing. The second photograph depicts three laughing bunnies feeding cake to a gentleman. The horizontal photographs are stamped by the artist to the reverse. Unframed.
