Vintage Stork Club Ash Receiver and Matchbook

A vintage Stork Club ash receiver and oversized matchbook. The ash receiver is in a round black plastic, with the Stork Club logo to one side in white text. The match book is in black with a gold stork logo and gold text. The inside opens to a message from Sherman Billingsley, the owner. The Stork Club was an iconic New York club from 1929 to 1965, and was the ‘it’ club of New York City, where movie stars, the rich and famous, showgirls and aristocrats mingled. Sherman Billingsley was an ex-bootlegger who came to New York from Oklahoma. A feature of the club was a solid 14 karat gold chain at its entrance; patrons were allowed entry through it by the doorman.
