A Kurz & Allison 1891 copyrighted lithograph titled ‘The Battle of Kennesaw Mountain’. The lithograph shows the ferocious battle waged under the Union leader Gen. William T. Sherman against the Confederate Army under Gen. Joseph E. Johnston, which ended in a tactical defeat for the Union forces. The site of the battle is now part of Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park, where both Confederate deliberate trenches on top of the mountain and some Union rifle pits are still visible today. The piece is matted in red and finished under glass in a black and dark wood frame.
