A stunning Oriental four-panel folding screen. The decorative screen, in a dramatic black lacquer finish and with dimensionally-outlined illustrations, has depictions of court scenes and everyday life, with highly detailed interiors, and lovely Oriental landscapes featuring trees, lakes, and mountains. Colorful flaming dragon forms add sinuous and exotic character. The opposite panels feature an array of floral and foliate motifs, with birds, in rich shades. The screen has short square legs with brass-wrapped feet.
