Vintage Desk Globe
Item Details
A vintage desktop globe by Cram Co. of Indianapolis, 10.5’ diameter. Depicts the political borders of the world on the eve of WWII, after the German annexation of Austria and the Czech Republic but before the invasion of Poland. However, the globe itself is post-WWII (for example, a note by the Philippines reads ‘US control until 1945’). This fairly detailed globe also depicts major rail lines, ship routes, cities, and some state/provincial borders in large countries such as the USA, Canada, and USSR. The globe spins inside a metal ring with latitude markings, and sits on a wooden base with four feet.
Condition
- the outer surface of the globe has been scuffed away in a few spots, leaving white splotches, mostly over ocean but also elsewhere. There’s a minor dent over eastern Siberia.
