Brass-Covered Wooden Letter Box

Item Details

A vintage brass-covered wooden letter box. The box has an angled top lid with an overhang to the sides and front. The top panel has a dimensional street scene with a carriage and Tudor style storefront, and several elegantly attired folks. The panel has an applied brass border in a classical motif. The front wrapped panel has a dimensional sailing ship sculpted to the center, with the applied borders to each side. The box sides are covered in a hammered brass. The box has a darkened patina and wonderful aged appeal. The interior is metal-lined with the exception of the bottom wood panel. A worn leather strap on the inside left keeps the lid open at a secured angle. The box sits on a pair of wooden rails.
