Antique "Roubo" Style Carpenter's Woodworking Bench

An antique ‘Roubo’ style carpenter’s woodworking bench in a marvelous French style. The handcrafted workbench is of aged hardwoods. The long, thick hardwood top has a recessed 8’’ wide tool tray and hand-dovetailed joinery. The bench features two vises: a front vise and an end vise with large wood bolts/screws. Additionally, the two wooden vise screw threads are in great condition. The worktop has twelve through mortises in a line which can implement clamping dogs (tapered iron wedges) for securely clamping various lengths of wood or metal to bench top. The wide-set wooden trestle base features a lower shelf for further storage, lower pull-out drawer for small tool storage, and ‘key through mortises’ with ‘tusked tenons’ to peg the base together without bolts for easy knock-down and reassembly with bare minimum tools. The heavy hardwood construction is made to last for centuries, yet still be able to disassemble and transport if necessary.
