Antique Chapman & Smith Stoneware Crock Jug

Item Details

An antique stoneware crock jug from Chapman & Smith Company of Chicago. Chapman & Smith sold supplies for bakers and confectioners during the late 1800s, on up to the early 1900s. At the early stages of its life, this jug contained one gallon of pineapple flavored Colonial Concentrated Syrup ‘for soda fountain use’. It has a brown glazed spout and handle, with a cream glazed body. Affixed to the front of the jug is a paper label advertising the contents.

Condition

Paper label has darkened and chipped around the edges with age.
