Hull Art Pottery Bow Knot Vase

A Hull Art Bow Knot vase in an ovoid form and in an ivory matte background glaze, with flared ribbed top in a blue matte glaze. Embossed pink, blue and yellow flowers with sinuous green foliage decorate the vase, which a green-glazed round foot. The vase is marked ‘Hull Art B-4-6.5’ to the verso. The A.E. Hull Pottery was formed in 1905 in Zanesville, Ohio. In the early years the production was stoneware specialties, but by 1920 they were starting to branch out into the art pottery field. The pottery finally closed their doors in 1986. Their art pottery lines were extensive with trademark glazes of soft pastel shades. One of their most popular lines was ‘Bow-Knot’ which was first introduced in 1949. It was produced in duo-tone combination, pink to blue and blue to pink. In all there were 29 different pieces developed.
