English 'Tyrol' Ceramic Ewer with Pewter Lid, circa 1864

A wonderful English ‘Tyrol’ ivory matte glaze ceramic ewer with James Dixon & Sons Sheffield pewter lid, circa 1864. The ewer is of a bulbous form with flared top, and decorated in an overall embossed scrollwork pattern. The pewter lid is curving in form with embossed scrollwork detail and is marked to the verso. The ewer dates to the middle part of the 19th century. The ewer itself is marked with various impressed marks and numbers.
