Antique Copeland Late Spode Meat Platter 19c
A substantial earthenware meat platter, marked ‘Copeland Late Spode’ in green to underside, with impressed crown mark, and a complex registration mark in blue. This platter features a blue under glaze design of a landscape of ruins next to water, reminiscent of the Melrose patter, c. 1850. A very heavy piece, with a beautiful border of acorns and oak leaves.
Underside has a few small chips to raised foot. There is some discoloration and scuff marks to glaze, and a few flea bites where glaze is missing.
