Royal Doulton "Sairey Gamp" Character Jug from Dickens

A Royal Doulton character jug entitled ‘Sairey Gamp,’ a character from Charles Dickens’ ‘Martin Chuzzlewit.’ This large Toby-style mug features a handle in the form of an umbrella and the face of a woman who obviously has a lot of character herself. Her name is incised on the back of the mug, near the bottom. The green maker’s stamp to underside has the letter ‘A’ to the left, and a handwritten ‘B’ to the right, with an incised number ‘48.’
