Royal Doulton "Mephistopheles" Character Jug
A large Royal Doulton ‘Mephistopheles’ character jug, designed by Charles Noke and Henry Fenton, and first issued in 1937. This jug stands about 5.8’ tall. The mark on the bottom is a green stamped Royal Doulton ‘A’ mark. The only other mark on the bottom is the letter ‘k’. There is no verse on the vase. This two-faced devil Toby-type mug features a frowning, sinister face on one side, and an evil smile on the other. Coloring on the mug is brown and red.
There are a couple of tiny"flea bites" on the rim of piece, which feel rough and are missing glaze.
