American Tonalist painter Charles Warren Eaton was renowned for his moody, atmospheric landscapes and mastery of light. Mentored by George Inness and trained at the Art Students League, Eaton frequently traveled throughout Europe, drawing deep inspiration from his time in Italy. His visits to Venice yielded serene, light-filled canal scenes that beautifully showcase his signature subtle palette, delicate brushwork, and contemplative focus on shadow and water.

- accretions; frame abrasions and associated areas of paint loss; corner loss to the board at the lower left, with loose/frayed canvas fibers; gaps between edges of board and frame; light scratches and residue to the frame.
