Antique Brass Russian Samovar
Item Details
An impressive antique brass or copper alloy Russian samovar. Traditionally used to heat water for making tea, this is not a modern electric kitchen appliance! Wood chips are placed in a central cylinder to heat the water around it. A teapot would be placed on top to stay warm during gatherings of friends and family. This samovar is well worn, and has stampings to front of body and pedestal base, probably indicating place of manufacture. Includes ‘Wesam’ brass underplate.
