French Bisque Porcelain Sevres-Style Busts
Item Details
A handsome pair of bisque porcelain busts mounted on blue porcelain bases, bearing the likenesses of Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette. These Sevres-style figures most likely date from the late 19th to early 20th century. They are finely cast in wonderful detail, with the doomed French king wearing military regalia and his queen sporting a hairpiece with the fleur-de-lis insignia. Both are mounted on deep-blue glossy-glazed porcelain bases with gold detailing. Figure is attached to base by means of a screw. Unmarked.
Condition
There are a few dark scuff marks to bisque figures. Louis XVI bust sits somewhat unevenly upon base. Each has a square piece of felt to bottom base (easily removable).
Dimensions
Dimensions of Louis XVI figure. Base is 2.60" square.
