Unique Beer Stein Ash Receiver of Famous Restaurant "Luchow's"

A unique ceramic ash receiver, made in Germany, with a miniature beer stein in the center, from the renowned ’Luchow’s Restaurant’ in Manhattan, NY which claimed to be the best German restaurant in the country. The restaurant opened in 1882 and was frequented with prestigious guests such as Teddy Roosevelt, Lillian Russell, William Steinway and Irving Berlin. It is reported that when prohibition was lifted in 1933, over 1000 patrons celebrated at Luchow’s, consuming over eight barrels of beer. The restaurant sadly closed its doors in 1986. The wording at the circumference of this charming ash receiver reads ’Luchow’s Restaurant Since 1882, New York City’. This is an awesome memento.
