Hickory Furniture French Provincial Style Oak Cedar Chest, Late 20th Century
Item Details
A French Provincial revival oak commode chest manufactured in Hickory, North Carolina, by the Hickory Manufacturing Company during the late 20th century. Built with a robust oak framework, this decorative chest features a subtle bombe profile housing two full-width storage drawers. The fronts are accented with ornate, openwork brass-finished rococo scroll handles, central keyhole escutcheons, and an undulating scalloped skirt carved with a traditional shell motif. The unit is elevated by short cabriole bracket legs terminating in scroll feet, retaining its original inset metallic manufacturer’s seal inside the drawer assembly.
