Renaissance Revival Quartersawn Oak Trestle Table

Item Details

This antique trestle table is a notable example of Renaissance Revival craftsmanship. Constructed from solid quartersawn oak, the piece features a prominent grain pattern known as ‘tiger oak’. The rectangular top is composed of two wide boards with softened edges, currently exhibiting significant signs of historical use including ring stains and finish loss. The table is supported by a substantial trestle base consisting of lyre-form ends enriched with vigorous, high-relief carvings of pineapples and scrolling acanthus motifs. A heavy, low-set rectangular stretcher joins the supports, providing the structural mass and architectural silhouette characteristic of the revival period.
