American Oak Arts & Crafts Style Glass Front Bookcase, Early 20th Century
Item Details
This early 20th-century American bookcase is a fine example of Arts & Crafts craftsmanship, constructed from quartersawn oak with a distinctive grain. The unit features an overhanging cornice decorated with a dentil-molded frieze, sitting above two large doors inset with clear glass. The interior houses four adjustable solid oak shelves that utilize a traditional wooden ratchet support system. The case is finished with a simple plinth base and features a solid paneled back. All hardware, including the surface-mounted iron hinges, appears original to the piece, maintaining the integrity of its Mission-style silhouette.
