This Arts & Crafts period storage footstool is constructed of solid oak, featuring the distinctive medullary rays of quarter-sawn timber. The rectangular hinged top is padded and upholstered in a contemporary striped fabric in shades of green, cream, and red, opening to reveal a spacious interior storage well. The sturdy frame is supported by four square legs that terminate in prominent flared feet, braced by a low H-stretcher for structural stability. While the wood finish shows signs of historical wear and use consistent with age, the piece retains the honest joinery and functionalist aesthetic characteristic of early 20th-century Mission-style furniture.
