This vintage storage chest by the Lane Furniture Company of Altavista, Virginia, is a classic example of 20th-century Chippendale revival craftsmanship. The exterior is finished in rich wood veneers and features a ‘faux’ drawer front designed to simulate a chest of drawers, complete with four panels and decorative pierced brass ‘batwing’ pulls. The piece stands on sturdy ogee bracket feet, a motif characteristic of the 18th-century style it emulates. The lid opens to reveal a fully cedar-lined interior, naturally aromatic and designed for the protected storage of textiles, accompanied by a felt-lined mechanical storage tray. This chest maintains its original branded maker’s mark and factory guarantee labels, confirming its provenance and manufacturing quality.
