Egyptian Camel Saddle Stool, Mid-20th Century

Item Details

This vintage camel saddle stool is a classic example of mid-20th-century Egyptian handicraft intended for the export and souvenir market. The stool features a splayed hardwood frame topped with a decorative carved camel-head pommel. A thick, dark brown leather cushion rests atop the frame, detailed with an embossed and gilded central camel figure and decorative border stamping. The cushion is currently protected by a removable clear vinyl cover. The piece is further accented by brass-tone nailhead trim arranged in star patterns on the legs and rounded brass caps on the pommel ends. This stool serves as a versatile accent piece or footrest, embodying the mid-century fascination with North African and Middle Eastern decorative motifs.
