This antique Caucasian Baku area rug features a rare and vibrant emerald-to-grass green field, a color highly sought after by collectors of tribal textiles. The composition is centered by three vertically aligned, stepped hexagonal medallions rendered in madder red and ivory, containing traditional geometric star motifs. The open field is sparsely decorated with small tribal ‘filler’ elements, allowing the saturated green background to remain the focal point. Enclosing the field is a classic ivory-ground border featuring a repeating geometric serrated motif, framed by secondary guard stripes in contrasting indigo and red.
