Federal Style Cherry Stand, Late 19th/Early 20th Century
Item Details
This square side table, executed in the Federal Revival style, is constructed of solid cherry wood. The design features a substantial overhanging top resting above a single compartment that originally housed a drawer. The piece is supported by four elegantly square-tapered legs, a hallmark of the Hepplewhite influence. The wood retains a deep reddish-brown patina, though the top shows evidence of heavy use through surface staining and finish degradation. This utilitarian yet classically proportioned piece represents the enduring American preference for simple, high-quality hardwood furniture during the turn of the century.
