This authentic late 19th-century Victorian rocking chair is crafted from walnut and features a distinctive Rococo Revival influence. The chair is characterized by an oval backrest containing a finely woven cane panel, topped with a hand-carved foliate crest. Sinuous scrolled arms lead down to a circular seat, also fitted with matching hand-woven cane. The structural frame is supported by baluster-turned front legs and stretchers, contrasting with splayed, undecorated rear stiles. The chair rests on traditional curved wooden rockers. Exhibiting a deep, original finish with a natural patina acquired through a century of domestic use, this piece represents the domestic elegance and craftsmanship of the Victorian era.
