American Primitive Cherry Corner Cupboard, Mid-19th Century
Item Details
This mid-19th-century corner cupboard is constructed from solid cherry, exhibiting the wood’s signature warm reddish-brown oxidation. The cupboard features a traditional two-part design with a simple cove-molded cornice over a pair of double-paneled upper doors. The lower section contains two single-paneled doors, all retaining original-style turned wooden knobs. Forensic visual analysis shows tight grain patterns and hand-finished door stiles. The rear construction utilizes wide vertical planks consistent with rural American cabinetry. A notable historical scar on the lower right door provides a window into the wood’s density and original lighter tone.
