Thomasville Chippendale Style Mahogany Slant-Front Desk, Late 20th Century
Item Details
This late 20th-century slant-front desk by Thomasville Furniture Industries is a refined example of the Chippendale Revival style. Crafted in mahogany with a rich, uniform grain, the desk features a traditional fall-front lid that opens to reveal a multi-compartment interior with tiered pigeonholes and small accessory drawers. The lower case consists of four graduated drawers adorned with ornate brass batwing escutcheons and pulls, all resting on sturdy bracket feet. The interior drawer side bears the authentic Thomasville brand, and the secondary wood displays machine-cut dovetail joinery, indicating the high-production standards of the North Carolina manufacturer during this period. This piece offers the classic aesthetic of 18th-century English furniture with the functional durability of modern American craftsmanship.
