This large-format area rug is an authentic example from the ‘Original Karastan Collection,’ featuring the classic Navy Heriz pattern (Design No. 700/701). Measuring 8’8’ x 12’, the rug is machine-woven in the USA using 100% premium worsted wool. The design features a bold, geometric Serapi-style medallion in terracotta and sky blue, centered on a creamy ivory field. The four corners are anchored by deep navy blue panels, and the entire composition is framed by a wide rust-colored border with traditional Samarkand-style floral guards. The wool has been lustre-washed to produce a soft, reflective sheen that mimics the patina of a high-end antique hand-knotted rug. Complete with original factory labels and a full, clean fringe, this rug represents the pinnacle of mid-to-late 20th-century American textile manufacturing.
