French Louis XV Style Marquetry Inlaid Vanity, Late 20th Century

Item Details

his elegant Louis XV style vanity is a masterwork of 20th-century revival cabinetry, featuring intricate floral marquetry executed in various fruitwood veneers. The primary frame is clad in richly grained kingwood and rosewood with book-matched detailing. The piece is centered by a large, shaped mirror set between scrolling supports, accented with decorative gilt-bronze (ormolu) mounts at the crest. Three drawers—two elevated and one central—provide storage, each decorated with inlaid flowering vines and fitted with ornate bronze pulls. The vanity stands on graceful cabriole legs further embellished with foliate ormolu knee mounts and sabots. Uniquely, the rear of the mirror panel is also fully finished with a large-scale marquetry floral bouquet, allowing the piece to be placed away from a wall.
