This vintage Chinese Art Deco rug features a plush, hand-knotted wool pile in a striking royal blue colorway. The composition is anchored by a central lobed medallion containing stylized peonies and a traditional Greek key fretwork border. The open field is decorated with asymmetrical floral sprays and ceremonial urn motifs, rendered in shades of coral pink, sage green, and light blue. A wide cream-colored main border is enriched with a continuous scrolling vine of flowers and finished with architectural fretwork at the corners. The textile is finished with a thick navy blue outer guard band and a robust cream cotton fringe. While displaying some localized surface staining and minor pile wear consistent with age, the rug retains its structural integrity and vibrant saturated tones.
