Pair of Corinthian Order Column Pedestals, Late 20th Century
Item Details
This pair of late 20th-century pedestals is modeled after the classical Corinthian order, featuring capitals adorned with ornate acanthus leaf carvings and small volutes. The fluted shafts lead down to stepped circular bases set upon square plinths. Finished in a variegated grey and white wash, the surfaces exhibit an intentional ‘antique’ patination, though significant authentic wear and pigment loss are visible on the top display surfaces. A notable chip on the corner of one base reveals the cream-colored composite material used in the hollow-cast construction. These pedestals offer a grand architectural silhouette for the display of sculpture or large-scale floral arrangements, embodying the eclectic Neoclassical revival style of the late 20th century.
