Pair of Renaissance Revival Carved Oak Architectural Pilasters, 19th Century
Item Details
This impressive pair of 19th-century Renaissance Revival pilasters is expertly crafted from solid oak. Each architectural element features a prominent Corinthian-style capital, distinguished by exceptionally crisp, deep-relief acanthus leaf carvings that demonstrate high-level Victorian craftsmanship. The capitals surmount smooth-turned cylindrical half-columns, which terminate in stepped circular bases. Both columns are securely mounted to their original rectangular oak backboards, which were designed for flush integration into a larger interior architectural scheme. These pieces retain a deep, lustrous chocolate-brown finish and represent the grand scale and historical revivalism favored in late 19th-century interior design.
