Taylor Made Jamestown Table Company Pedestal Desk, Circa 1950
Item Details
This Mid Century Colonial Revival pedestal desk was manufactured by the Jamestown Table Company of New York as part of their ‘Taylor Made’ furniture line. The desk features a classic executive silhouette with a large central frieze drawer and two supporting pedestals containing a total of eight side drawers. The drawers are constructed with machine-cut dovetails and retain their original decorative brass bail handles. The top is currently protected by a removable plate glass inset, though the wood surface beneath shows evidence of domestic use, including finish abrasions and a prominent moisture ring. Characterized by a solid modesty panel and a substantial plinth base, this piece represents the sturdy, traditional craftsmanship typical of the Jamestown furniture manufacturing hub during the post-war era.
