This Late Victorian chifforobe is constructed primarily of walnut with decorative burl walnut veneer panels. The upper section features a shaped backsplash above two side-by-side glove drawers and a central cabinet with two doors adorned with ebonized shield-shaped onlays. The cabinet opens to reveal three internal graduated storage trays with scooped fronts, while the base contains one large full-width drawer. Supported by turned legs on functional wooden casters, the piece exhibits construction techniques typical of the turn of the century, including machine-cut joinery and the use of poplar as a secondary wood. This versatile storage unit serves as a functional example of American bedroom furniture from the late 19th to early 20th century.
