Item Details

This four-panel folding screen features a continuous hand-painted narrative scene rendered on a shimmering silver-toned silk ground. The artwork depicts a traditional Chinese courtyard scene populated by figures on horseback and foot, set against a backdrop of blue-roofed architecture, circular moon gates, and stylized rock formations. Each panel is encased in a slender black lacquered wood frame, reinforced with decorative etched brass corner brackets and traditional brass hangers. The reverse is finished with a patterned tan protective paper. Retaining its original ‘Made in Macau’ export label, this screen serves as both a functional room divider and a decorative example of late 20th-century Chinoiserie craftsmanship.
