American Pine Paneled Blanket Chest, 19th Century
Item Details
This American 19th century blanket chest is constructed of solid white pine and features a classic two-panel front design. Built using traditional mortise-and-tenon joinery, the chest is secured with visible wooden pegs at the structural junctions. The rectangular lid opens on iron butt hinges to reveal a spacious interior, while the exterior is finished with a simple molded edge on the lid and recessed panels on all four sides. The corner stiles extend downward to form integrated square-tapered feet, providing a slight elevation. The piece retains a warm, aged character with an old reddish-brown stain that highlights the natural grain and historic wear patterns common to utilitarian country furniture.
