Romweber "Marquise" Louis XV Revival Two-Part China Cabinet
Item Details
This impressive two-part china cabinet by the Romweber Furniture Company is part of the ‘Marquise’ collection, a luxury mid-century interpretation of the Louis XV style. The upper hutch features a triple-arched crest and is configured with two central glazed doors flanked by two fixed panels of decorative brass wire mesh. The interior is fitted with adjustable glass shelves set against a vibrant book-matched walnut veneer back. The lower buffet base is designed with a dramatic serpentine ‘bombe’ front, featuring two central doors and two side cabinets. The base is distinguished by its elaborate gilt-brass starburst escutcheons and foliate carvings on the corner pilasters and cabriole legs. Stenciled markings on the reverse confirm the model and collection name, documenting its origin from one of Indiana’s most prestigious cabinetmakers.
