1'8 x 3' Handwoven Navajo Klagetoh Ganado Wool Rug

Item Details

This mid-20th century Navajo rug features a classic Ganado inspired geometric composition. The handwoven wool textile is centered by two large, vertically stacked serrated diamonds in aniline red, containing smaller grey and cream internal diamonds. The field is populated with step-fret and ‘hook’ motifs, all contained within a strong black-and-grey serrated border. The palette utilizes a sophisticated mix of natural undyed cream and carded grey wool, contrasted against bold black and a deep saturated red. Forensic visual markers confirm its authenticity, including the continuous warp construction (absence of fringe) and reinforced four-cord selvedges with original yarn tassels at the corners. The weave is exceptionally consistent, representing a high quality example of mid century regional Navajo artistry.
