Imperial Furniture Co. Chippendale Style Piecrust Occasional Table, Mid-20th C.
Item Details
This mahogany occasional table was produced by the Imperial Furniture Company of Grand Rapids, Michigan, a firm noted for its high-quality 20th-century reproductions of 18th-century English designs. The circular top features a deeply carved ‘piecrust’ rim decorated with repeating C-scroll and foliate motifs. The top is supported by a central turned pedestal featuring a carved acanthus collar. The table stands on a robust tripod base, with each cabriole leg featuring carved acanthus knees and terminating in an out-turned scrolled foot. The underside retains the original manufacturer’s foil decal and a stamped model number 1189, confirming its solid mahogany construction and adherence to Grand Rapids production standards. This piece serves as a classic example of American Chippendale Revival furniture.
