American Golden Oak Washstand with Lyre-Back Circa 1900
Item Details
This American Golden Oak washstand features a distinct lyre-back assembly and dates to approximately 1900. The upper portion consists of a pivoting curved lyre-shaped frame (no mirror) topped with a carved foliate crest and a horizontal towel bar. The base includes a serpentine-front top over a full-width upper drawer, balanced by two stacked drawers on the left and a single cupboard door on the right. Constructed primarily from quartersawn oak, the piece stands on four bracket feet featuring carved acanthus leaf detailing.
