Authentic Handmade Afghan Mashwani Runner Rugs are highly distinctive tribal textiles woven by the semi-nomadic Mashwani tribe in the Herat and Badghis regions of Afghanistan. These runners are prized for their unique ‘high-low’ texture, which is achieved by a complex weaving technique that combines sections of flat-woven kilim (soumak) with areas of hand-knotted wool pile.
