This Mid Century Modern bookcase headboard is constructed of walnut and features a streamlined horizontal silhouette with integrated storage. The unit is designed with two sliding doors that flank a central open bookshelf compartment, providing interchangeable hidden and open storage for books and bedside essentials. Each door is detailed with a decorative recessed square panel, a motif common to high-quality American cabinetmakers of the 1960s. The rear of the piece includes an original electrical cord, suggesting it was manufactured with internal lighting for the central alcove. While the face of the headboard retains its warm walnut patina, the side mounting blocks exhibit structural splintering that will require reinforcement for secure attachment to a bed frame.
