4'7 x 7'6 Hand-Knotted Persian Sarouk Area Rug

Item Details

This mid-century Persian Sarouk rug showcases a perennially popular ‘all-over’ floral composition, eschewing a central medallion for a rhythmic display of blossoming palmettes and scrolling vines. Woven in the Arak region of Iran, the rug features a vibrant madder red field complemented by a sophisticated palette of midnight blue, sage green, and ochre. The hand-knotted wool pile is thick and lustrous, supported by a heavy double-wefted cotton foundation that ensures exceptional durability. The main border is an ornate midnight blue band with repeating floral rosettes and serrated leaves. This piece exhibits a well-preserved surface with a mellowed patina, making it a classic example of the high-quality village weaving that defined 20th-century Persian exports.
