Set of Four Duncan Phyfe Style Mahogany Side Chairs with Lyre Backs
Item Details
This set of four side chairs is executed in the Duncan Phyfe style, featuring the characteristic lyre-form splat centered between sweeping stiles. The mahogany frames are detailed with fluted tablet top rails and stand on fluted front legs terminating in spade feet. The seats are upholstered in a traditional paisley textile over plywood bases, common for revival furniture produced during the early 20th century. These chairs exemplify the American Neoclassical influence that remained popular in suburban interiors well into the mid-1900s.
