4'7 x 11'5 Hand-Knotted Persian Hamadan Long Rug

Item Details

This semi-antique Persian Hamadan runner is characterized by its triple-medallion design and vibrant, naturally aged palette. The field, a distressed salmon pink, showcases three vertically aligned medallions in charcoal and soft yellow, a design common to the weaving villages surrounding the ancient city of Hamadan. The rug’s foundation is a classic single-weft cotton construction, a technical feature that gives the piece a supple handle and creates a distinctive white-spackled appearance on the reverse. Hand-knotted with symmetrical (Turkish) knots, the wool pile has worn down to a low, decorative height over decades of use, revealing the rug’s sturdy village origins. A traditional ‘Herati-style’ floral border in cream and charcoal completes the composition.
