Hepplewhite Style Inlaid Mahogany Kidney-Shaped Desk, Mid-20th Century
Item Details
This Hepplewhite style desk features a classic kidney-shaped silhouette crafted in mahogany. The facade is organized with a central kneehole drawer flanked by two pedestals containing three drawers each. The central drawer is highlighted by a refined marquetry inlay depicting a bow-tied ribbon and laurel swags, complemented by lightwood stringing throughout the drawer fronts. Architectural interest is provided by fluted pilasters that lead to elegantly turned and tapered legs. The piece is fitted with period-style octagonal brass hardware. A ‘Genuine Mahogany’ label from the Mahogany Association, Inc. is affixed to the interior, certifying the materials used in its construction.
