American Empire Style Mahogany Slant-Front Desk, Late 19th/ Early 20th Century
Item Details
This mid-19th-century American Empire slant-front desk is crafted from richly figured mahogany. The architectural silhouette features a hinged fall-front writing surface that opens to reveal an interior gallery with curved dividers and integrated stationery drawers. The case is configured with two shallow upper drawers above three large, graduating bow-front drawers, all fitted with circular brass pulls and key escutcheons. The desk is framed by elegant fluted pilasters on the front corners, leading down to substantial hand-carved scroll feet. Construction details include hand-cut dovetail joinery and solid wood secondary components, indicative of mid-1800s American craftsmanship.
